In this paper, a series of polyurethane acrylate macromonomers that had different function were synthesized by using isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI), hydroxyethyl-methylacrylate (HEMA) and polyether polyol, this kind of macromonomers could be used to prepare transparent thermosetting polymer materials, and could also be acted as a new kind of surface-active agent—polymerizable emulsifying agent. The reaction kinetics of synthetic macromonomer using IPDI and the compound with active hydroxy was studied by using IR analysis method , and the structures , performances and applications of the macromonomers that had different function were discussed.1.The results of the reaction kinetics studied by IR analysis showed that the rate constant of reaction of the group of aliphatic isocyanate was 2.53.5 times higher than the group of aliphatic cyclic isocyanate at the same temperature. And the model of the kinetics of IPDI react with active hydroxy compound was deduced in detail for the first time . The reactive probability of the group of aliphatic isocyanate in the molecular of IPDI was X= 1/[1+42.4e12000/RT(C0/ C - 1)]. The model of kinetics was verified by theories and experiments, and could be used to design the technology conditions of synthetic macromonomer.2.The homopolymer and copolymer of macromonomer acted as transparent polymer materials was discussed . The results showed that the materials had better performances in spectral transmittance, hardness, impact strength, thermal deformation temperature than common transparent plastic—PMMA. To the system of PEG400, for example, its spectral transmittance reached 92%, its impact strength was 3.6 times higher than PMMA, its thermal deformation temperature was 2.2 times higher than PMMA and could be used as a new kind of transparent polymer material.3.The influence of rigid chain and flexible chain in macromonomer chain with the performances of materials was analysed. The results showed that the flexibility andtoughness improved on the condition of flexible chain existed in the macromonomer chain, the impact strength and heat decomposition temparture improved with the molecular increased; the rigidity improved on the condition of rigid chain existed in the macromonomer chain, and the thermal property of the system of aliphatic cyclic isocyanate was better than the system of aromatic isocyanate.4.The amphiprotic polyurethane acrylate macromonomer acted as polymerizable emulsifying agent was discussed . The results showed that the amphiprotic macromonomer had not only lower critical micelle concentration (CMC) and excellent emulsifying properties but also better polymerizability than traditional emulsifying agents such as OP-10 and sodium dodecyl sulfate , and could be used as a new kind of surface-active agent.
