The research results of mixing extruders, such as Elastic Fusion Extruder, Sliding Extruder, Discal Extruder, Instamelt Rotating Extruder, "T" Shaping Extruder, KCK Extruder, Disc Mixing Extruder and Series Disc-screw Extruder are analyzed and compared. A new equipment — Disc Extruder is developed.Based on the analysis of other extruders, the mixing principle of Disc Extruder is proposed. In addition, using the software — Polyflow, the mixing status is analyzed, and based on the comparison between rotating speeds, gaps and shapes of different discs, the distribution of speed, shear rate and vorticity are calculated.Additionally, a great deal of experimentation have been done. And the polymer based nanocomposite was prepared.Both the theoretical and the experimental results show that the designing idea is right. Comparing with the traditional screw extruder, the Disc Extruder has many advantages, such as stable extrusion, convenient manipulation, higher shear rate, better mixing quality and cheaper facility.
