| The need for chip control is increasingly important in model machining processes. Effective chip breaking and effective chip disposal are the two functional elements of chip control. There have been numerous attempts to design various appropriate chip forming tools for forming the chip with a forced curvature in it, so as to facilitate the subsequent breaking of the chip by a mechanical action. Groove and obstruction type chip formers are the two most important used to curl the chip. Despite the wide range of tools available to reasonably control chip formation and curl, there still seems to be non-scientific with "try and see" methods being used. Chip control remains a problem in machining processes, especially in continuously machining such as turning. Therefore, there is a fundamental need for further research on the mechanism of chip flow, chip curl and chip breaking.Chip up-curling and chip bank-flow are the essential kinematics with using grooved tool, chip side-curling and chip side-flow reduce to motion in three-dimensional space, the recent finding of the chip lateral-curling go deep into essence of the chip motion research. The paper constructs the various mathematics models which they administer to quantificationally comprehend the chip formation and chip kinematics. The chip curl and flow will be existed with a certain form/shape in space. The chip-form model reveals that the chip uniquely determines by the chip side-flow angle, the chip up-curling radius, the chip side-curling radius and the chip lateral-curling radius.The paper uses graphics database function of OpenGL to achieve chip-form visualization, and detailly models various objects. The modeling coordinate coincides with the objects' greatly decrease the transform operation between the coordinates. The machining parameter optimization obtains on VC++ powerful interface platform and then the chip is ulteriorly pridected which prepares for effective chip control.The paper develops a software of chip prediction system. This software with a friendly interface can display the figure of chip by calculating all chip parameters that is input beforehand. It is very convenient and credible and gives a preference for cutter parameter design. |
