The use of volatile organic compounds in coatings is going to become more and more restricted due to environmental and legislation constrains. The UV curing coatings are recognized as environment friendly chemical products, which have adventages of non-contamination , non-toxicity ,non-skin irritation and safety of production ,and become an attractive research and application areas of UV-curable systems . Photoinitiaors , as the important constitute part, also have been developed fast. The development of photointiators in the near thirty years is summarized. Thioxanthones , benzophenones, acetophenone and their derivatives , which have fine properties and use value, are mainly presented.A photoinitiator must be highly water soluble over a wide pH range ,fast acting ,colourless and preferably odourless to be suitable for use in an aqueous composition for the production of UV-cured lacquers.Benzophenone derivatives is foud to be very useful in water-borne formulations. In this paper , two series water soluble benzophenone derivatives photo- initiators were prepared. In the presence of phase transfer catalyst, sodium 2-hydroxy-3- (4- benzoylphenoxy) propane sulphonate was prepared by reaction of sodium 3-chIoro- 2-hydroxypropane sulphonate and 4-hydroxy- benzophenone which prepared by phenol and benzoylchloride. The optimum conditions that were obtained by using orthogonal experiment were shown as follows: catalysts is PEG600, catalysts content is 5%, reaction time is 4h and reaction temperature is 120℃. The structure of synthesized water soluble photoinitiator was identified by means of UV ,IR ,NMR, MS et al. 2-Hydroxy-3-(4-benzoylphenoxy)-N,N,N-trimethyl -1- propaminium chloride was synthesized by the reaction of thimethylammonium chloride and benzophenyl glycidylether which were synthesized from epichlorhydrin and 4-hydroxy benzophenone . Its structure was confirmed by IR. It is a particular advantage of the ameliorative route that the product may be prepared in high yield under mild reaction condition , the reaction time was reduced from 18h to 4h, so the cost of the product was greatly reduced.The results of the applied research for the sodium 2-hydroxy-3- (4-benzoyl phenoxy) propane sulphonate and 2-Hydroxy-3-(4-benzoylphenoxy)-N, N, N-trimethyl-1-prop aminium chloride showed that water-soluble property were... |
