The preparation of hydroxamated acryl amide polymers is well known in the art. The hydroxamated polymers are disclosed as chelating agents which are useful in the formation of iron complexes and are known to have a favorable effect on drilling muds. The use of these hydroxamated polymers as flocculants is also known.This thesis falls into three parts:In the first part, the virtue, mechanism and research progresses of emulsion polymerization are generalized in all aspects. On this basement, the research progresses of inverse emulsion polymerization are outlined.In the second part , the inverse emulsion copolymerization of acryl amide was Carried out .the effects of reaction temperature, monomer concentration, emulsion concentration and initiator concentration were investigated respectively. A methodlogy for high molecular flocculant containing hydroxamic acid group from acrylamide was developed. The concentration of initiator, mononer and solvent has effect on the relative molecular weight of polymer. By color reaction of FeCl3 and analysis of infrared spectrum, it was demonstrated that the product contains hydroxamic acid group. We also discuss the sedimentation of red mud with series of flocculants equal setting rate the clarity of supernatant and relative settling volume. We could get a new kind build-up flocculant which is made of hydroxamic acid flocculant and PAM.In the third part, the test indicates that the equal settling velocity increase following the increase of the molecular weight of polymer. Though the settling rate of PAM is very quick, it is clarity is dad. Therefore we could mix hydroxamic acid flocculant with PAM in certain proportion. This build-up flocculant have not only the quick settling rate but also the good clarity. |
