While bringing mankind abundant material wealth, the textile and clothing industry causes serious environmental pollution. In order to protect the living environment and realize sustainable development of economy, the textile and clothing industry must use resource and energy effectively and reduce the pollutants discharged to the environment. Green design is a new design method. It takes the whole life cycle of the product into account, thus the rate of energy and resource utilization being the highest and the negative effect to the environment being the minimal in the all life cycle of the product. It is imperative to research on green design technology of textile and clothing industry in China. The research status and development trend of the green design at home and abroad and its use in textile and clothing industry is reviewed and summarized. The green attributes of the garment are presented and expounded creatively and a system of green design of garment in accordance with the current situation of China and the production practice is set up, including method, material, key technology and assessment. Using woman's knit polyester as the research object, the life cycle of garment is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. And the quantitative assessment of garment life cycle is completed in China for the first time. By life cycle impact assessment, the resource, energy and environmental pollutant in the life cycle of garment are presented. At last, a comparatively integrated strategy of the garment green design is proposed. The resource depletion index of the natural gas is the highest and the coal ranks the second. Solid waste is the most important environmental impact factor and the global warm follows.Garment Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) provides advanced management idea and technology for managers in textile and clothing enterprises and theoretic basis and data support for further research on green design and LCA of apparel. The strategy of green garment design proposes systematically and synthetically what to be considered in green garment design and measures that promotes the green attributes and international competition capability of garment. |
