Based on the theory analysis, model testing, value simulation and underground observation, the difficulty of top coal caving on fully mechanized coal stope is studied in detail. In this paper, firstly, it classifies and refines the factors which affect the steep degree of difficulty of top coal caving. These factor s are divided into the two categories of technology and geology factors. Then after making theory analysis and quantity research on technology and geology factors, it points out the degree of difficulty of seam is a native attribute of seam; degree of difficulty of seam is decided by its given condition and reasonable selection of technology parameters are effective measures and necessary supplements for improving the degree of difficulty of top coal caving.Secondly, on the base of the multiplicity of the geology factors what affect the degree of difficulty of top coal caving of steep seam. It builds a compositor model by means of applying to multiplicity principal component analysis.Thirdly, according to the compositor model, selected coal miners and the first principle value of stope, it classifies degree of difficulty of top coal caving, meanwhile decides the value scope of various categories.At last, analysis the selected coal miners and stope use system clustering analysis. The results of clustering analysis show that the coal miners or stope having similar degree of difficulty can be generated to a same category. So it expresses the geology condition of given seam and the affect laws of inherent changes on degree of difficulty of caving in deeper facet. Meanwhile it makes a reasonable predict about the degree of difficulty of top coal caving on fully mechanized coal face.Relative study results have been got and generalized on spot applying, this supplies thegeneralizing of top coal caving on fully mechanized and the selecting of top the technology parameters of spot exploiting with theory basis and science basis.
