In the dissertation, the study and development of the electromagnetic shielding materials were reviewed. On the base, the research of the waterborne latex electromagnetic shielding composite based Ni coating were discussed in order to probe into its engineering application fields and prospects.The results of the study for the electromagnetic shielding based Ni coating showed: the kind,shape,content and dispersion of the fillers, resin ,solution and thickness were important in the functions. When the content of the fillers was 20%-40%, its function was good. The framework was built with the resin and the filler. When the viscosity is advisable the amount of the thinner should be lowed. The thickness was important to electric conductivity. Some amount coupling-agent could improve the electric conductivity remarkably. Sheet particles could improve the surface luster of the coating. The number of contacting particles and the shortest distance among particles were the key factors, which decided the completeness and closely degree of the framework.The research based Cu conductive coating shown that addition of the coupling- agent has no improved the electric conductivity stability of the paint. But the silvering Cu powder can improve the electric conductivity and its stability.The test by The Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) showed that the shielding efficiency was at the range of 45 to 52dB when the frequency from 9kHz to 1GHz and the spot test (in ShuangLiu International Airport, chengdu) by National Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology showed the average shielding efficiency was 33.52dB at the frequency from 400MHz to 1000MHz.The project was important project of Building ministry in 2002 and the accreditation was passed on Sep 28,2003. It was in the lead level in the domestic and international the same levels. It has applied the inventive patent. The waterborne latex Ni based electromagnetic shielding coatings has excellent electric conductivity and environment-friendly. It will be widely applied in the future.
