In the light of the existing inorganic passive inhibitors which have defects of toxicity and expensiveness, and the existing organic inhibitors which have the disadvantage of environmental. The present dissertation describes a new type water treatment agent, called self-riched inhibitor HZF. The carbon steel corrosion behavior in distilled water and tap water plus HZF and the inhibition effects by ordinary anions and cations were studied through weight loss and electrochemical measurement. The inhibition property and inhibition mechanism are explored. On the base of many experiments and studies, the high effective water treatment agent which has the properties of excellent inhibition and phosphatorus-free as well as operations without pretreatment filming was developed. Results show that FIZF is a passive inhibitor. They tell us that carbon steel can maintain passive state in low concentration(40-100mg/L) solution and great inhibition effects after prepassivating at higher concentration level(1000mg/L e.g.). Additionally, the inhibition mechanism consists of two processes: physical adsorption followed by a chemical adsorption. Thus the self-riched mechanism is put forward in filming of inhibitor.
