The ec-environmental degradation day by day on the earth, especially in developing countries, which has become an urgent and serious problem. In China, the ec-environment of three ec- environmental fragile areas-Karst, loess and the edge of desert are much more serious than other regions. Our region, in the hinterland of southwest Karst in China, is one of the ec-environmental fragile areas. Recently because of natural reasons and man-made factors, this region becomes more serious which makes western region development more impedimental. To develop the country's west, the problem of western ec-environment have to be solved first. So the rational estimation of the ec-environment is essential for government's relevant departments to make policies.On the basis of analysis on the general situation ,the fragile of ec-environment and its factors and characteristic, in this region (in Guiyang), firstly, the author makes use of the remote sensing (RS) and geographical information system (GIS) as the main technology through the construction of expert classifier to extract the factors of ec-environment and acquire satisfying results. Secondly, he sets up an index system of estimation and digital environment model for quantitative analysis of its ec-environment fragility, then we compartmentalized the ec-environment fragility into five grade, according to constructing the exponents figures of fragile ec-environment and land use, to show they are in negative correlation. Finally, the author has made a program in Visible Basic by using MapObjects ActiveX of ESRI Inc., which can conveniently show, search, and simply compile the spatial and attibutive data of ec- environment in the study area.
