This paper set focus on how to use network resource for CAD/CAM under web environment and how to share the data of CAD/CAM through Internet & Intranet. It took the 3D design of roll-forging mold and the 3D design of its roughcasts for example to illustrate feature-based parameter-driven CAD/CAM under Internet & Intranet environment. Firstly, designed the 2D key section based on Internet or Intranet. Secondly, swept the key section restrained by lengthways contour to construct the roughcast. Thirdly, in order to gain the mold of roughcasts, consider of the special deformation of roll forging, we introduced a new object named virtual middle dummy .The virtual middle dummy took the 2-D information to the 3-D mold. Virtual middle dummy inherited the 3D parameters from roll-forging roughcast, and at the other hand it was attached the parameters of roll-forging mold, such as the parameters of forward slide and the backward slide. Finally, used Boolean method to build the roll-forging mold on mold base.As for CAM, firstly, verified above-mentioned roll-forging mold solid, because a solid with flaw can't be took into CAM process. In CAM process, it's a important step to choose machining parameters. To avoid looking them up in many handbooks, a CAM parameters query system based on B/S & C/S was designed. In this system different parameters were related in order to simplify CAM design work. Finally, through carefully analyzing the inner surface of roll-forging mold we took the 4 axes revolving machining method to simulate the process of mold machining, and optimized the machining parameters, got the NCI file and FANUC system NC file.From design of 3D roll-forging roughcasts, design of roll-forging mold and manufacture simulating of mold, author tried to illustrate the whole process of design and manufacture aided with computer. This is the main route that modern factories recently take.
