| Along with the continuously development of the computer technology, the usage of computer in every walk of life is becoming more and more popular. To catch up with the march of the information era, traditional key industries are joining the tide of information technology, and as a result there comes the Computer Aid Design or CAD technique. The article details the CAD function and the overall development of the CAD system, and introduces the current from two-dimensional system to three-dimensional system. Also described here in the article are in-deep research and discussion on the pilger mill roll groove that is deemed as rather special and complicated. A math model for optimization of pilger mill roll groove is set up based on various factors concerning the roll groove including the deformation theory, design process and selection of the parameters, etc., and Visual Basic (VB) is used as a developing tool for the CAD. As a result, a CAD software for the roll groove optimization is developed that provides such functions as groove data management, groove profile plotting and groove data printing, Meanwhile, the principle and realization of complex curves are discussed in this paper. The thesis mainly studied the handling method of system data and the software interface, solved the technical problem in system exploit. Base those, the three-dimensional modeling is realized by AutoCAD 2000 and Pro/ENGINEER. Being a basis for relevant technological decision and groove optimization. In the process of design, the concept of the software engineering is introduced into the roll groove CAD system, and relevant program software is successfully developed in line with the design process for structuralized program.Furthermore, the designer's experience can be introduced into the designing course and the designing result can be modified at any time, because of the graphical user interface. This software is an all-purpose one, being capable of running in Windows2000 operating system. The said CAD system also provides such advantages as quick designing, high accuracy, exact model and easy maintenance, providing a scientific method in the pass design of pilgar roll.The roll groove optimization and the said soft ware development described here inthe article lays a foundation for future Computer Aided Manufacture or CAM ) of roll machining. |
