High water absorbent resin was obtained by taking modified sisal-cellulose as the primarary raw material and Acrylic acid and Acrylamide to copolymerize. Aqueous solution polymerization was adopted under the condition of using Cerium salt as initiator, N, N'-methylene-bias-crylamide as the crossing agent. The influence factors on grafting such as the monomers concentration, the Nitric concentration, the amount of initiator, temperature and copolymerize time were studied by statistical analysis of ortheogonal experiment. The relations between the characteris of the resin and the grafting rate, the monomers composition, the amount of crosslinking, and so on were also discussed, the absorption power of the resin is 245g/g for deionizing water, and 95g/g for 0.9% NaCl solution, graft copolymerizing mechanism of cellulose was discussed detailedly. Water absorbing mechanism of high water absorbent resin was explained. The structure of the resin was investigated by FT-IR, and the stability of grafting copolymer was also studied by themal analyzer TGA.
