On The Problem Sustainable Development In A Technology View

In the beginning of 1980',World Commission on Environment and Development led by Mrs. Brundt land (Prime Minister in Norway) published a report name "Our Common Future" in 1987, in which it put forward the stratagem of "Sustainable Development" to settle environment and development problems in modern society. As Sustainable Development is involved with the existence and development of human beings, the lasting development of economy, the safety and prosperity of our society, it promptly aroused wide recognition and attention in the world. Up to now, research on Sustainable Development is still in its developing and perfecting periods. Scholars put forward many viewpoints on Sustainable Development from different points of view-resource, environment, population, capital, technology, social system, and soon. In this paper, the author, basing on the principle of Marxism and natural dialectic, took apart how technology promote social development and discussed the functions of the development of technology to sustainable and other related problems.In the first part, the author, with a review on the origin and connotation of Sustainable Development, held that Sustainable Development means realizing the harmony of economical benefits, zoological benefits and acquiring the sustainability of social development with the premise of continual optimizing relationships between man and nature by technology. To the understanding of Sustainable Development, the author thought that it is not only the realistic counter measure to relieve human beings' current puzzledoms, but our yearning toward perfect society.In the second part, with a historical viewpoint, the author made a dynamic analysis on the promoting functions and negative influence oftechnology development to society and compared the society before and after Industrial Revolution. The author held that underlying factor of social diversity lied in the development of technology-on one hand, technology ensured the standing social development in the past several centuries, on the other hand, it brought about problems of Sustainable Development such as the leap of population, the maladjustment to zoology in the world, the worldwide environment pollution, the annihilation of many species, etc. , largely due to our limited cognitive capability and misuse of technology.In the third part, the author discussed the achieving way of Sustainable Development. The author thinks that the way should be based on the deepening for the view of Sustainable Development and the ensuring for the institution of developing. And the author also points out that the development of science and technology is the key to the -fulfillment of Sustainable Development - as the main impetus of economical Sustainable Development, the forceful guarantee for environmental Sustainable Development and footstone for social Sustainable Development.
