With the surge of the demand for variety and high-quality jacquard fabric, the automation level of products and the functon of higher speed loom have been increasing. Thus the electronic jacquard machine matched with these looms was proposed for higher requirements. But up to present the technology of electronic jacquard machine in China has a certain gap with foreign countries, the majority still rely on import. So it is imperative to research the high speed electronic jacquard machine with a large number of needles.Based on comprehensive analysis to existing technologies of domestic and international electronic jacquard machine controllers,This paper mainly discussed NiosⅡsoft-core system embedded in the FPGA as the control program of the electric jacquard machine controller and its functional design. In the mother board, EP3C25 model was chosen as the master chip. Functional module circuits included external memory expansion circuit, the configuration module interface circuits, SD card interface circuit, pattern data output interface circuit, weft selection, encoder module circuit and so on. NiosⅡsoft-core system used NiosⅡ/f soft-core as CPU, and its peripheral equipment included Altera's standard IP cores and customized IP cores. The standard IP cores directly added to the system and set the required parameters. The customized IP cores contained IO port control module dedicated to transmission of pattern data and encoder module which was used receiving the current state information of the loom, transforming the type of data and outputing to the CPU. After completing the structure of the hardware platform,μC/OS-Ⅱoperating system which achieved controlling for hardware circuits through the driver was transplanted to the NiosⅡ. Finally, this paper completed the driver of main modules of the controller as well as the main program. The design was tested on the jacquard machine in the laboratory and the test results showed that it reached the designing need.IP soft-core SOPC system embedded in the FPGA was used in the design of electronic jacquard machine controller. Also, software and hardware Co-design method was adopted for the design. Compared with the traditional embedded system design, this design has shortened the development cycle and reduced the number of the device. therefore it has some innovation.
