The Young People's SOHO Furniture Design

Along with the advent of the information age and the update of the information technology, the mode of living,study and work is changing, and the design of the SOHO furniture generated with it. It emphasizes the function and meets the young people's needs. SOHO(small office and home office) was brought forward in the eighties of the twentieth century , which has been already widely accepted. It could be said that the SOHO furniture is the product catered to the modern life and work style. However, according to the current situation of the SOHO furniture, there are some insufficiency, such as the lack of the study of the special group, less consideration of the"home"environment, and the insufficience of the creative design and practical use.Based on the youth's life style and the systemic analysis on the SOHO furniture, the thesis discusses the practical scheme and solution of the SOHO furniture design, then makes the SOHO furniture fit in with the modern SOHO. Firstly, according to the analysis on the life style and work way of the youth in information age, the thesis supplies the theoretical principle to the SOHO furniture. Secondly, SOHO, as an individuation way of work, has infiltrated to the whole life of the young people, which makes the space-time limit between life and work become blur. Based on this situation, the thesis puts forward a creative strategy upon the market, and carries out some deep applied analysis. Finally, combined with the theory, the author also try to do some design practices.The study proves that, starting with the SOHO'life and work style, and combining with the conformability, personalization, individuation , convenience, etc, also the consideration of"home"environment, designer will grasp the innate character of SOHO furniture design, thereby satisfy the actual demand of SOHO group.
