This paper analyzes the development of the domestic and international welding CAPP system at present, and elaborates the mea.ing and content of the Tig welding CAPP system. The aim of this paper is to achieve low cost, high efficiency and an effectiv% sharing of the welding information of the TIG welding CAPP system. The functional requirements is determine that was based on the investigation and in-depth analysis of the business TIG welding process. The system functional block and the C/S structure model that was based on the Windows XP system and supported the Oracle data management systems. The global E-R model of the TIG welding CAPP was built after analysing the demands and data of the TIG welding process design. And then under the direction of normalization theory of data, the transformation from E-R mode to conceptual data model was designed and achieved.Design system for TIG welding process was designed by using UML modeling method to set up the model of the system from use case modeling, static modeling and dynamic modeling of the three aspects of modeling, implemented the system use case diagram, class diagram and activity fig.The prime programs of TIG welding CAPP system included the user jurisdiction management, welding procedure design(deterimining the initial conditions, cleanning up matrix before welding, designing the groove type, selecting the grade of the wire, current and voltage and heat treatment of the post-weld),database maintenance, inquiry function, system help documents. The prime programs of TIG welding CAPP system is realized in the Windows XP system by taking advantage of the object-oriented technology, and employeing as the development tool, using Oracle 10.0g as a database management system.
