Located in the southeast coast of the Fujian province, Xiamen Bay is semi-closed with flexural coastline and complex terrain. Economic development which calls for land resources made Xiamen have serious problem of land shortage. Reclamation, as the most economic way to resolve the problem, had already been applied in 1950s. The negative impact occurred at the same time, such as the water environment quality was worse and tidal capacity was decreased sharply while hydrodynamic condition changed. These environment problems could be the hidden trouble for the harmonic development of this place.Hydrodynamic numerical model MIKE21 is applied to simulate Xiamen water area, and all the observational data was verified to ensure the accuracy.A two-dimensional model of tidal current in the Xiamen Bay was established, and using the same open boundary condition the model presented hydrodynamic environment with different bathymetry and coastlines in 1955, 1956, 1970, 1984 and now. According to the results, regime of flow changed little while the flow rate changed obviously.Based on the simulation using the regulation coastline and bathymetry, results showed that expanding the water area and opening the waterway between West Sea Area and Tong'an Bay could improve hydrodynamic environment effectively.
