Ultra-wide spectrum electromagnetic pulse is a high-power microwave, and its proposed is entirely the product of the development of pulse power in recent years. In the test of ultra-wide spectrum high-power microwave, we usually need high-power electromagnetic pulse, so the protection of apparatus must be considered. Currently, on the equipment for protection there is a hole for the cable passing through, which is a weak link for protection, making electromagnetic pulse can enter the shield by means of slot coupling, threatening the safety of apparatus of measurement. In this paper, theoretical analysis, numerical calculation and experimental are used to study the coupling effects of ultra-wide spectrum electromagnetic pulse to the hole. Specific content is:Ultra-wide spectrum electromagnetic pulse coupling field with different pulse widths, different diameter sizes, different lengths, in the case of whether there is a cable passing through the hole.In this paper, a method of the coaxial cable and network cable passing through the hole that on the shield was showed, and the experimental results show its effectiveness; By the rational design of experimental equipment layout and composition, within a certain time window, the experimental results avoid scattering interference brought by ground and the surrounding objects, meanwhile, the signal is not distorted. All of this provides credible test data for the study of ultra-wide spectrum electromagnetic pulse coupling to the hole; By studying, we obtained the rules that the size of the hole and the width of pulse correlate to the shielding effectiveness, which provides a reference for determining the size of the hole.
