The solar simulator is an implement for simulating the sunlight irradiation characteristics, such as total solar spectral irradiance, irradiation nonuniformity and irradiation instability. The application of solar simulation is extremely extensive, the large-scale solar simulation is used in the satellite environment simulation in space technology. The small-sized solar simulator is used in satellite attitude controlling, solar sensors experiment and demarcation on the ground. In the solar photovoltaic engineering, the solar simulator is mainly used in testing and standardizing for solar cells. The properties of Air Mass filter are important to the solar simulator. The Air Mass filter, Air Mass 1.5G(AM1.5G), AMO and AM1, used in solar simulator for solar cells test are designed and fabricated in this paper.First, the transmittance spectra and the transmittance parameters of these Air Mass filters are obtained by standard irradiation spectra of AM1.5Q AMO, AM1 and the actual Xenon lamp irradiation spectra. The three kinds of filter are designed by the TFC software respectively. The optical constant of titanium dioxide (TiO2) is analyzed by J.A.Woollam M-2000UI ellipsometer, these three film systems are optimized based on the measured optical constant of TiO2. The allowable deviation and the sensitive layers are analyzed. These three optical filters are deposited by ion beam assisted deposition(IBAD), the film thickness are controlled by using the short wavelength controlling long wavelength and changing wavelength. The spectroscopy results show that the transmittance is 15%(T=15%) at the central wavelength of 950nm. The average transmittance of this filter is more than 95% in the wavelength range between 400 and 650nm. In the range of 1200-1400nm, The average transmittance of this filter is more than 92%. The spectral irradiance test results show that the index of radiation match is 0.89-1.09. The filters meet the requirement of filter in class A.
