In the process of photosynthesis, water is one of the irreplaceable and an indispensable raw material. Water is one of the main factors in affecting plant photosynthesis and biomass. Vegetation water content can reflect the growth of vegetation, Water content of crops will impact the crop production to some degree.Changbai Mountain is located in southeast in Jilin Province, where the Changbai Mountain National Nature Reserve is the generally acknowledged as the largest forest ecosystem reserve in China. Changbai Mountain is the most typical natural composite body in the Eurasia Continent regarded as a rare genebank of species and natural museum in the world. The Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve is Largest in China currently,For more than a century, coupling increasing human activities and global climate changes,Changbai Mountain region has faced with some problems of ecological security, including forest resources significant changes, volcanic activity and other disaster risk and water resources of international rivers. Using time time-series data of MODIS data and vegetation moisture content model, the spatiotemporal characteristics and trend in Changbai Moutain area during 2001-2008 is detected and analyzed in this paper. The results of this study may provide basic data and scientific support for evaluating the ecological security and analyzing the response on global climate changes in Changbai Moutain area as well. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly expounds the research background and significance, the progress of vegetation canopy water monitoring by remote sensing technology. The second chapter focuses on the natural environment of the study area, and geographical features. The third chapter explains the data sources and methods in this study. The fourth chapter describes the fourth chapter analyze the spatiotemporal pattern of vegetation canopy moisture and the trends.
