Today, level measurement instrurmentl is widely used in the fields of oil industry and chemical industry. It is a direction of development of modern industry and commerce to realize no contact measurement and intelligent management. It is an accurate and economic way to use ultrasonic to measure liquid level, material level and thickness and topography under water.This thesis deals with measuring pitch which are stored in oil tank on road, discussing further about the feasibility and advantage, and about every causation bringing errors, put forward the way settling matter. According to the principle measuring distance by ultrasonic and the core which is AT89S52, measuring pitch level by the way controlled signal is ultrasonic.It use ultransonic to measure the pitch automatically and also deals with in order to decrease artifical linterfere and provides a person-computer screen with a show and a keyboard,which is convenient for the operators carrying out the measurement control.The operators can print and keep some data using mico-printers or communicatng with PC in order to manage the store of pitch.This thesis add on measurement module which can measure temperature and humidity so as to obtain examples for BP NN.By which measuring velocity of sound, it is easy to mainten and install, moreover, is economical.Depending on BP NN,computer technique and the principle measuring distance by ultrasonic, it is more economicaler and more cheaper and more exact. After all, it is worth to extend.
