The research of electromagnetic scattering characteristic have important applications in many aspects, such as electronic countermeasures, stealth design and identification of target. The dissertation presents systemic theoretical studies for the electromagnetic scattering characteristic using method of moment (MOM). In this paper, three-dimensional targets are calculated using MOM. These targets include conducting targets, homogeneous dielectric targets and inhomogeneous dielectric targets.Firstly, the electromagnetic scattering of three-dimensional conducting targets are calculated. The essential theory for the three-dimensional vector RWG triangle basis function of the MOM are given. The detailed implementations for discretizing EFIE for calculating PEC target electromagnetic scattering by MOM are shown, especially for the procession of the singular elements of the impedance matrix. Then several radar cross section of PEC target are calculated. Secondly, the surface integral equation(SIE) is presented to calculate the electromagnetic scattering characteristics from the homogeneous dielectric targets. An important principle of electromagnetic field theory—equivalent theory is introduced. By equivalent theory, the intial problem is divided into the inter problem and outer problem, and CFIE is built on the target's surface. On the basis of RWG, the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of homogeneous dielectric targets is calculated using MOM and accurate results are obtained. Finally, the volume integral equation(VIE) is presented to calculate the electromagnetic scattering characteristics from the inhomogeneous dielectric targets. Choosing SWG as the basis function, the detailed implementations for discretizing VIE for calculating inhomogeneous dielectric targets electromagnetic scattering by MOM are shown. Several results indicate the precision of MOM.
