Liupanshan basin is located in the transfer belt of Qin Qi belt, Alashan block and North China plate, the north-eastern border of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is an important tectonic location and with lower extent of oil and gas exploration, especially inadequate understanding of the prototype basin of Cretaceous and the evolution. In this paper, with the theoretical guidance of the sedimentary, structural geology and the comprehensive use of outcrop, seismic, geophysical and drilling data, study on the sedimentary and structural features of the residual basin of the Cretaceous, resume the prototype of the Liupanshan Basin of Cretaceous. The research result has certain significance for the oil and gas exploration in Liupanshan Basin and the geological data of western Ordos Basin.Based on the detailed spot survey of the outcrop, with the combination of seismic and drilling data, we carry on a systematic study of the development characteristics, residual thickness and distribution of the Cretaceous formation in Liupanshan basin. To determine the Sedimentary filling pattern of Cretaceous sedimentary in Liupanshan basin.Based on the analysis of the gravity-magnetic-electric data, combined with regional geological surveys, carry on the study of the main tectonic units, situation of the development of fault and characteristics of development of basin; Analysis the main structural style of the basin through the outcrop and the seismic data since Cretaceous, Identified tectonic evolution of the basin since the Cretaceous, through the main profile analysis of the seismic line.On the basis of the study of the sedimentary and structural features of the residual basin, analyze the characteristics of the changes in stress field through the characteristics of oblique anticline and fault since the Cretaceous; After comparing the sedimentary record, determine the boundary of the prototype basin; Resume the uplift capacity erosion in the late Cretaceous with the use of acoustic travel time and stratigraphic trend contrast. With comprehensive results of the study, resume the features of the prototype basin in the Liupanshan Basin of Cretaceous, to point out the direction of oil and gas exploration in Liupanshan Basin.
