With the current problem of population, resources and environment becoming increasingly intense day by day, the land use /land cover change is one of the core topics on the Present World Change Study. The research of land use/land cover change has become one of the frontiers of modem geography as it not only plays an important role in global environmental change, but also has an important significance in sustainable development and management in a region. Analyzing space-time changes rules in land use understanding of the change course and mechanism of land use. Adjusting the economic activity of human society, impelling the using of land rationally, and keeping the pertinence, validity of the national macroscopically strategic policy could guarantee sustainable utilization of land resource.By means of the RS and GIS technology, employing the TM data for the basic data pool, due to the relatively accurate basic classification, referencing other documents and the previous relevant research results, and field surveying, the classifying samples which were used to help to classify the images from 1998-2004 by eyes were constructed. Through research, using Landsat TM images of Baohan gas surrounding the evaluation of LUCC for drivers analysis of the main conclusions are as follows:(1) Through field surveying, map reference, and other information access, the eventual establishment of interpretation signs, the use of visual interpretation method TM images for interpretation, access to the very objective of land use / land cover data. This shows that the using RS and GIS could develop the way to get and analyze data, and give a strong help to improve the LUCC research.(2) The use of remote sensing images using GIS technology to study areas of land use / cover change detection is an effective method. Through this paper, the study found mat the area of land use / cover change the basic characteristics : the rapid reduction of cultivated areas, Corner area of rapid growth while building sites have greatly increased, showing a decreasing trend woodland and shrub forest, grassland, unused land an increasing trend, water area change little.(3) Using Markov model forecast LUCC is a better way. The method for the future of the study area land use / cover change projections played a very good role in guiding and reference.
