With the development of remote sensing and the geological prospecting technology, geological workers are faced with a new challenge, which is how to make use of modern technology to discover new mineral deposits and find concealed ore-bodies in the condition of rugged natural environment as well as complex terrains and landforms. Combined with a major scientific and technological project of Qinghai Province, the methods of extracting mineralization and alteration information based on remote sensing have been researched in the area of Kendekeke and Yemaquan in the East Kunlun Mountains. And the long-range mineral areas are predicted.Firstly, the spectral theory of extracting mineralization and alteration information and the spectral characteristics of typical altered minerals are analyzed. Secondly, according to investigating the hydrothermal wall-rock alteration types and conditions, as well as altered mineral types and their relations, it is concluded that the information of metal deposits and altered rocks have a high relationship with each other. Then, through analyzing the theory that is extracting mineralization and alteration abnormal information and the geological background of the research area, the thesis carries on extracting work in the research area by using the ETM+ data. Three different types of methods have been applied to extracting alteration information. They are method of Spectral Angle Mapper, method of Spectral matched filter and method of Support Vector Machine (SVM) which is based on the principal component analysis theory. Among them, the SVM method based on principal component analysis uses the more mature method in the field of geology to extract high-value mineralized samples, guaranting the accuracy of mineralization extraction in a certain degree. Finally, the thesis compares and verifies the application effects of the three methods; it also predicts the long-range area of mineralization.In sum, it can achieve a certain effect by using the satellite remote sensing image to extract abnormal alteration information, and it has the features of "saving time, effort, money". It can realize rapid exploration and confirm metallogenic prospective areas in the region with low level of work and poor natural conditions. At the same time, it is also of great significance for discovering big ore and metallogenic district.
