The gyrotheodolite is a kind of orientation physical instrument composed of the gyroscope and the theodolite. It can determine the true north-bit. It is widely used in many constructing engineering because it can work in all-weather and not rely on other conditions. With the development of the science and technique,engineering and economy, the technical request of the gyrotheodolite accuracy become higher and higher. However, there is less research in high-accuracy orientation gyrotheodolite in the world, particularly in the orientation gyrotheodolite accuracy evaluation standards and external factors on the orientation gyrotheodolite accuracy of the impact of research results. So the author discussed the orientation gyrotheodolite accuracy in this thesis. The main research includes:A detailed comparison is carried out on our assessment standards of gyrotheodolite accuracy and corresponding standards in Germany. The characteristics and shortcomings of the both standards are summarized. A set of procedure about how to assess the orientation accuracy of gyrotheodolite comprehensively is concluded. The author also studied the issue of how to choose the standard for orientation accuracy of gyrotheodolite.The author studied the influences of temperature, vibration, magnetic field, latitude and other external factors on the orientation accuracy of gyrotheodolite. The author established a mathematical model to represent the impact of the change of temperature on the top north value and instrument constant. The relationship between the orientation accuracy of gyro-theodolite and latitude, vibration, magnetic field changes through experiments is illuminated, and the corresponding improvement measures are presented.The comparison on the orientation using GPS RTK and gyrotheodolite is made in this thesis. The result of both theoretical analysis and experiments prove that high-accuracy gyrotheodolite orientation is much better than GPS RTK orientation in the case of the short distance. Only in the conditions of a long distance, the orientation edge is close to the base station, lower orientation accuracy, and good surrounding environment around the observation fields, GPS RTK can be used to do the orientation replacing the gyrotheodolite.
