Micro-crystal muscovite in west Sichuan is a new type of nonmetal resources. Micro-crystal muscovite has excellent performances. It has successfully applied to the fields of filler, coatings, insulating materials. At present, there is little research about the adsorption properties of micro-crystal muscovite. Based on previous work of researchers, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (HDTMA·Br) was used to organically intercalate micro-crystal muscovite. The intercalation effect was systematically studied by X-ray diffraction and infrared absorption spectra analysis. Then organically intercalated micro-crystal muscovite and methylene blue (MB) were mixed for absorption. The absorption effect was studied by UV spectrophotometry analysis. The results showed that Li~+ inserted into micro-crystal muscovite interlayer and replaced interlayer ions K~+ effectively at 300℃. XRD patterns showed that interlayer spacing of the micro-crystal muscovite increased from 1.03065 nm to 1.26368 nm. Then HDTMA~+ inserted into micro-crystal muscovite interlayer and replaced Li+ at 150℃hydrothermal conditions. XRD patterns showed that interlayer spacing of the micro-crystal muscovite increased from 1.26368 nm to 1.45060 nm. And there were some new vibration absorption peaks of HDTMA+ in IR patterns. In the optimized adsorption condition, fully mixing up two kinds of micro-crystal muscovite with MB solution, then using UV Spectrophotometer calculated their absorbance and measured their adsorption capacity. The results showed that the MB adsorption capacity of the original micro-crystal muscov??was 3.2953 mg/g; the MB adsorption capacity of the organically intercalated micro-crystal muscovite was 7.0342 mg/g. The adsorption isotherms were consistent with the Langmuir isotherm.
