With the rapid development of high-speed railway, the railway operators required the efficiency of Train Control System higher and higher. However, the cost of operation and maintenance of high efficiency Train Control System is increasing greatly, so to find a Low-cost Train Control System has become the focus of related research. Now, the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology has been applied to train control systems. Base on the collection of railway line data and devices information by GPS, we can reduce the use of wayside equipment through the description of railway by the use of GIS technology. GPS technology is an effective way to achieve Low-cost Train Control System, but for real-time GPS positioning of trains, the track map database is the key point to combine the positioning data with the line conditions. Therefore, the development of the track map database has important significance to reduce the system cost.The research on the track map database based on the structure of Low-cost Train Control System, and analysised the functional requirements of the system. The function is divided into several parts, through the analysis of the relationship among modules. For the topological relations of the line, this thesis designs the Incidence Matrix to describe the topological relationship by the use of graph theory. According to the requirements of system, structure of track map database was defined through object-oriented method. Base on determined database structure, system achieved to the description and generation of railway track GIS map and the layout. In order to reduce storage volume of database and garantee the accuracy, the data reduction algorithm is optimized to improve the efficiency and the accuracy of curve fitting. In this thesis, generation, validation and testing of database were implemented in VC++6.0 and MapX.As for the verification of track map database, field verification and simulation verification were designed. Simulation verification verifyed the correctness of the database through the combination of verification platform and interlocking simulation system, and it is based on the Interlocking System. Field verification establishes the real communication between platform and Interlocking System, and compares the Interlocking information with matching result to get the verification results.Finally, the correctness of track map database was verified and tested at Sanjiadian railway station in Beijing. And the test results verify the correctness of the technonogyof train positioning which based on the train track map. A set of technology to generateand verify the track map database was designed and implemented, at the same time italso layed a foundation for the Low-cost Train Control System.
