The effects of root excision on the root morphology, and the relationship between the root hydraulic conductivity (Lpr) and the leaf photosynthesis (Pn), the leaf transpiration rate (Tr), Leaf stomatal conductance (Gs) ,the water use efficiency (WUE) of maize seedlings were studied under condition of solution culture. The results showed that:1 The correlation between the whole root hydraulic conductivity and individual root hydraulic conductivity was obviously positive. And Pn, Tr, Gs of maize leaf decreased after root excising, only WUE increased.2 Pn of maize leaf of root excision decreased after 2 days, but biomass and fresh weigt (FW) of aerial part of root excision after 7 days was no significant difference compared with root non- excising.3 Lpr with Pn,Tr and Gs of maize seedlings show negative correlation under root excising, and with WUE show positive correlation.4 Average root length after root excising was significant difference compared with root non- excising(p<0.05,and Average diameter of root was no significant difference compared with root non- excising.
