Dealing with conflicts is an important aspect of human information processing and tasks involved conflicts could evaluate the capability of conflict resolution.Especially the integrated task that incorporated different types of interference could further increase difficulty of cognitive interference and demand more brain resource, which would help further understand the intentional mechanism, response selection and cognitive processing. The present study investigated Flanker and Simon conflict effect, the interaction between them as well as the attentional networks in an integrated task that incorporated both types of interference, under the influence of the different clue locations.By combining Flanker and Simon interference, the experimental tasks, using the slash task to raise the difficulty, were designed with three different clue locations which were up-down location clues,left-right location clues and slash location clues.Based on the three different clue types,we conducted three experiments.Stimuli were made by Photoshop software and the experimental procedures were operated by E-prime software. The accuracy and response time were taken into analysis separately for the three experiments, especially the interaction of the two interference and the attentional networks under the influence of different clue locations, were elicited by analysis of variance of repeated measures and correlation analysis.A brief overview of the main results is introduced below:1.Both Flanker and Simon conflict were significant in either accuracy or response time. Considering the accuracy, for the up-down location clues experiment, the interaction between Flanker conflict and Simon conflict was significant;while it was not,for the left-right location clues and slash location clues experiments.2.For the response time, there was no significant interaction in all the three different clue location experiments.3.As far as the investigation of attentional networks,we found there was a significant correlation between alerting and orienting networks in up-down location clues experiment but no significant correlation in the other two experiments. The present data indicated that the clue locations might have a major impact on the interaction between Flanker conflict and Simon conflict as well as the independence of attentional networks when the two types of conflict merged in one task.
