The dielectric barrier discharge(DBD),as an effective method of producing non-equilibrium plasma in atmospheric pressure has been paid much attention to in recent years due to its prospective applications in many fields.There are some impact parameters on the characteristics of dielectric barrier discharge,such as discharge voltage,discharge frequency,the discharge space,flow and electrode structure,and among these impact parameters the electrodes structure has marked effect.A new type of bevel-gear electrode structure,combining the characteristics of dielectric barrier discharge with corona discharge is introduced in this paper.A review is firstly presented of the article associated with the development of plasma and its application,and several recent advances in discharge structures is described;The basic theory of discharge,corona discharge and DBD principle are also introduced. Secondly,the discharge image and discharge waveform of bevel-gear electrode and plate electrode are compared by using of CCD digital camera and image acquisition methods.At last,the effect of electrodes structure parameters,such as bevel-gear distance,bevel-gear height,bevel-gear angle,and other parameters such as air-gap distance,applied voltage and dielectric thickness numerically simulated by using coupled multi-physics software.The main results are summarized as follows experimentally:(1)The bevel-gear electrode is of low starting voltage and strength electric field under the same conditions through discharge morphology.(2) The bevel-gear electrode discharge waveform is of asymmetry in a period and the place of plus is stationary,which shows it is of a more stable discharge from the discharge waveform.The simulation results of the electric field strength on the tip of bevel-gear show that:the electric field value of bevel-gear electrode is much strength than of the plane electrode;the most electric field value can be obtained when the bevel-gear distance is approximate; the bevel-gear height is smaller,the electric field is strength;the bevel-gear angel is smaller,the electric field is strength;the air-gap distance is smaller,the electric field is strength;applied voltage and electric field strength is almost proportional relationship;the dielectric thickness is smaller,the electric field is strength.
