The present age is a scientific and technical one. Compared with science, technology affects society and humans more directly and deeply than science. Technology has brought the glad tidings for the people. At the same time, technology has brought the worries for the people. The people are enjoying the convenient that was brought by technology. At the same time, the people are sharply criticizing technology. Technology has a lot of negative influence. The people have many points of view when they criticize technology. The thesis is largely concerned with that technology affects art negatively. The author criticized technology from the angle of sociology and theory of human nature in this thesis.The research content of the thesis developed around the relationship of technical progress and art degeneration. Firstly, the thesis discussed some questions about technology and art. Every question was discussed from the angle of ontology, theory of occurrence and theory of development. The author discussed largely the essence and type of technology and art from the angle of ontology. The origin and invention or creation of technology and art were discussed from the angle of theory of occurrence in this thesis. From the angle of theory of development, the author discussed the history of technology and art, the progress of technology and the degeneration of art. After some questions about technology and art were discussed, the thesis went a step further to reveal the opposing relationship and to draw the main conclusion of this thesis: technology causes usually art degeneration in the society in which technical rationality is in the leading position through expounding four double categories: truth and beauty, working and enjoying, body and mind, rationality and feelings. At the ending of the thesis, the proposition was extended to discussing the question of the ideals of society and the dimension of humans. The author pointed out that an ideal society should be one that is kept by art, morals and religion. The author pointed out that a perfect person should be one whose knowledge, ability, aesthetic feeling, goodwill and belief make a coordinative development.
