At present, owing to various advanced technology, stereoscopic observation to the ocean and rapid exploration to the ocean resources, a great lot of marine data has been acquried. With the marine data's keep-rising, it turns out more and more necessary to be organized, managed and displayed data effectively so as to serve people's daily life and production. The goal of this paper is to manage massive marine data using the self-designed ocean spatial database engine. The thesis comprises contents as follows:1. Through comparison and analysis among the key available technology of ArcSDE and Oracle Spatial, combined with the characteristics of the marine data itself, an ocean spatial database engine is studied and designed in the forms of structure, data storage model, technology to access database, and space data interface module etc.2. Marine data include, besides marine remote sensing data, marine vector data and marine actual measurement data etc. These data have different original storage medium and formats. The thesis puts the emphasis on the study of using large object relational database management system through the ocean spatial database engine completely self-designed to restore, organize and manage the marine's multi-original and massive data of great capacity.3. By studying the technology of raster pyramid, partition storage, asynchronous transmission and client buffer memory, quick-read means for raster data, the efficiency of storing and reading marine raster data is improved. The study indicates that the self-designed ocean spatial database engine is competent for the management of types of marine data well and improves the efficiency of marine data management. It's undoubtedly a meaningful attempt and exploration to develop marine data management platform.
