The analytical method based on systemic summing-up relate to ICP-AES analytical literature of domestic and foreign. And besides, we consulted correlative national standard analytical method. Design a suitable ICP-AES mensuration for the trace elements and rare earth elements in marine sediment samples. This method was simple, fast and effective with low work intensity. By the amount of sample were investigated and optimized condition experimentations, Finally, an optimal analytical method was established to carry out the further analysis of all sediment samples: Dissolve reaction in the proportions of Acid: (1:1HCl5mL)/(HF8~10mL)/(HClO41~2mL); Acidity of the sample medium was 5% HC1. The testing element: Ba,Co,Cu,Ni,Pb,Cr,Sr,Zn,Sc,V,Ga,Y,La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu. The plasma parameters were as: high frequency power of the ICP was at 1.3kW; the atomization airflow was at 0.8L·min-1; the assistant airflow was at 0.2L·min-1; the observation mode the of the Ba,Sr,Y,La were radial, and low differentiating ratio; the other elements were axes, and high differentiating ratio. Integral time was l5s. Furthermore, wavelength selection, background deduction and spectrum interference were studied for optimization. We tested three national standard reference Materials using this analytical method. Ascertain the detection limit of the analytical method. The relative standard deviation was less than 5%. Veracity relative standard deviation was less than 10%. The recovery of standard addition was 83.1~115.1%. In the Laboratory Capability Accreditation, the analytical results of using this method agreed well with the certified values, and the data of the samples microelements was excellent. The REE data (marine sediment standard GBW07313, GBW07315 and GBW07316) was accorded with the result of the National Standard Method (GB/T 17417.1—1998). Put this analytical method into practice production, the eligible quotiety of interior inspecting was upwards of 95%. The eligible quotiety of exterior inspecting was upwards of 96% (REE only).
