In this paper, by means of culturing with nutritional solution of different NaCL concentration (20,30,50,100,200mmol/L) the author had investigated the variations and responses of salt stress on the growth, physiological and biochemical indicators of two species of halophyte including Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza . Analying these indicators root activity ,chlorophyll content ,free praline content ,soluble sugar content ,soluble protein content ,MDA content and antioxidative enzymes (SOD,POD,CAT) activity , and appraising the comprehensive salt tolerant ability of them ,Tthe main results were described as follows:1. The roots activity of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling was promoted under low salinity (20 mmol/L NaCl);it was restained under higher salinity.2. The chlorophyll contents in leaves of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza of seedling was promoted under low salinity; it was restained probably under higher salinity. The ratios of the chlorophyll a to b of Spartina anglica fluctuated at 2.6 and it of Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling fluctuated at 2.34.3. The free proline contents in leaves of Spartina anglica seedling increased gradually with the increasing of the salinity and with the prolongation of the time of salt stress. It of Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling increased gradually with the increasing of the salinity during the beginning of salt stress, and decreased gradually under higher salinity during the last time of salt stress.4. The soluble sugar contents in leaves of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling increased gradually with the prolongation of the time of salt stress. During the last time of salt stress,it increased gradually with the increasing of the salinity.5. The soluble protein contents in leaves of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling varied seldom with the increasing of the salinity and with the prolongation of the time of salt stress.6. The MDA contents in leaves of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling were lower under low salinity (30 mmol/L NaCl), and it were higher under higher salinity. The MDA contents in leaves of Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling Were higher under ckeck too.7. It was different of the tendency of variety on the antioxidative enzymes (SOD,POD,CAT) activity in leaves of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling. It tended coordinateion of accumulation of development on SOD,POD and CAT activity in leaves of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza seedling.8. The comprehensive salt tolerant ability of Spartina anglica and Bruguiear gymnorrhiza was analysed by subordinate function method according chlorophyll contents indicators etc. . The result was that the rank of salt tolerant ability of them was that Spartina anglica>Bruguiear gymnorrhiza.
