In the paper, the Eucommia ulmoides Gum (EUG) in Eucommia leaves using ethanol-toluene-methanol extraction method is studied.Dynamic change of the EUG content of different Eucommia clone is disscussed. Meanwhile, the influence of exogenous hormone on the content and molecular weight of EUG. were researched .The experimental results show as follows:1 EUG content of the different clone existence in extremely remarkable difference indicated that the gene has effect on synthesis of EUG.. EUG content of the clone 24 was highest (5.72%), as for the clone 10 and 7, the EUG content respectively was 5.22% and 5.00%, for the clone 3, 18, 21, the content was between 4.70-4.82%, and the content of clone 23 was lowest (4.05%). Among them, EUG content of the clone 24, 7 and 10 was higher than 5.00%, and remarkable difference also existed in those clones. we deem them as high productive EUG clones.2. Difference of the 7 clones EUG content for six months is remarkable. EUG content of each clone increased from May to October and reached the highest in October.3 Difference of chlorine content in the 7 clones is remarkable. SPAD values of the clone 23 (54.96)and 10(54.07) was highest, and next was the clone 21(52.02), once more for the clone 7, 10 and 24, their values were between 46.71-48.54; SPAD value of the clone 3 was lowest (43.45).4.Difference of 7 clones'chlorine content in 6 month is remarkable. The chlorine content distribution of the 7 clones was a parabola-like curve from May to October, and achieved the maximum in July and in August, but in May, June and September it is quite low, October is lowest.5. This experimental studies indicated that the relevance of the EUG content and the chlorophyll content in the Eucommia leaf is not obvious.6. Density of various exogenous hormone which could best increase the content of EUG is: NAA 0.01 mg·L-1, GA3 300 mg·L-1, 6-BA 0.5 mg·L-1, 2, 4-D 0.1 mg·L-1, ABT 30 mg·L-1, respectively.7. Increasing spraying times of the exogenous hormone,growth rate of the EUG content of treat group dropped obviously compared with CK.8. Effective time of exogenous hormones enhancing EUG content is between 30-45 d.9. Influence of different exogenous hormones on the EUG relative molecular weight and the distribution is remarkable. Some treatments increase its relative molecular mass and the distribution, while others cause its relative molecular mass and the distribution reduction.
