A vast area of the Earth is covered by ocean. The ocean is an important object of the Earth scientific research. The Ocean's observation is foundation of the understanding of the oceans, marine research, development and utilization of oceans. The ocean observing equipment is tool and instrument of ocean's observation. Among all elements of the ocean observations, wave is the most important and most complex one. Therefore, the wave observation is especially important to us. For observing wave, there are many kinds of method and observation equipment. The different instruments have different principle and different scopes of application. Compared to other wave observation apparatus, wave direction buoys have many advantages : duration for use, long time unmanned observation, To specific purpose of observing the sensors can be tailored and expand , installation is simple, high mobility without water depth's restrictions, low cost and so on. SZF wave direction buoy is a kind of wave measuring instrument who can measure wave height, wave period and wave direction which is made in China. SZF Buoy System's hardwares include buoy , station receiver and PCRelying on marine monitoring technology standardization project- wave direction buoys in the national 863 project, data receiving and processing system of wave direction buoy is designed In this paper. Research focus on three issues: software programming, the theory and method of wave data processing, part of the circuit design and accomplishment. The emphases is the work of software Programming.In software programming, Visual C + + 6.0 is used. Visual C + + is Microsoft's product, who is the most powerful and versatile tool under the Windows platform. According to the design request and function of system, under the framework of the MFC, the program is finished by modules . These modules Include communications, data processing and analyzing statistics, graphics, storage and so on. Controlling and communication module is compatible with Modbus communication protocol. Serial communication is finished with Windows API, so that it has greater flexibility, and more efficiency. program use DLL, COM, C + + standard template library, Visual C + + and Matlab mixed programming techniques.The principles and methods of the statistical characteristics are introduced in the principles and methods of wave data processing. At the same time, one-dimensional spectroscopy is intruded.PC communicate with station receiver through the RS232 serial interface. The design thinking, design method and Part of hardware details are given in the specific hardware circuit. AT89S52 is the core of hardware. A complete MCU system is formed with the various external expansion IC chips such as Flash chips ,real-time calendar clock chips, micro-printer, etc.Laboratory experiments and field experiments show that SZF direction buoy data receiving and processing system arrive the targets of the design. It run stability. Operation is simple and convenient. Data reception is accurately, data processing is real and reliable.
