The organization and visualization of geological data based on GIS provides an opportunity to observe the rich information in geological body visually and accurately, and give an available help to the mine development. Currently, most of the 3D spatial visualazation projects were programmed from basic concepts and functions based on OpenGL standards, which took high risks and long devolop periods to the devolopers, and people must pay more attention on graphic visualization. Some methods to develop the geo-modeling system can be referenced form the COM technology. Integrated the components MapObjects from RSI and IDLDrawWidget from IDL and script language form Surfer8 in .Net environment, an experimental geo-modeling system was developed. The way to manage geo-data with GIS method and the technique of spatial data girding and modeling with COM were expatiated, and then an evaluation of the models was made. A conclude can be drawn form the results that the organizing and modeling of drills data with COM technology was a convenient and economic way. Finally the development and expanding directions of the system were expected.
