Maling River Gorge is located in Xingyi city, Guizhou province.The lithology is mainly carbonate terrane. It is centralized exhibition of karst physiognomy. The average annual temperature is 16.9℃and the precipitation ranges from 1200mm to 1500mm, belonging to subtropical monsoon climate area.Based on the algae collecting in field and identifying of 283 algae samples in laboratory, the results showed that there are 421 species (including 375 species,39 varieties and 7 forms), belonging to 93 genera 41 families 21 orders 9 classes and 4 divisions. Among them, 230 species belong to Cyanophyta, occupying 54.63% of the total species. 129 species Bacillariophyta, occupying 30.64%.1 species Euglenophyta,occupying 0.24%. 61 species Chlorophyta, occupying 14.49%. The algae in Maling River Gorge is that Cyanophyta becomes dominant species. There are 63 species as new records of algae for Guizhou province according to the references of GuiZhou algae flora. According to the flora study, there are 7 dominant families (over 16 species) and 5 genera (over 16 species) in Maling River Gorge. In photogeographical elements of algae,Maling River Gorge is characterd from subtropic to tropic elements.By the methods of abundance index,comparing dominant families and genera and similarity of genus,the algae is compared in deferent sites as well as between Maling River Gorge and other 8 areas in China. The results are as follows: Firstly, among 3 sites in Maling River Gorge, for abundance index, the highest one is Tianxing Hualang, then is Zhaojiadu , the lowest one is Qingshui River, their dominant families have much similarity.For algae relationship, the relationship of between Maling River Gorge and Zhaojiadu and between Maling River Gorge and Qingshui River is both near. Zhaojiadu and Qingshui River is far. Secondly, between Maling River Gorge and other 8 areas in China, the abundance index in Maling River Gorge is placed in second, that indicated the natural condition is superior and the ecologic environment is complex and diversity in karst altiplano gorge.According to the metrices, there are five ecological communities of algae in Maling River Gorge, Waterfall–tufa, Petrophytia, Epixylophytia, Geophytia and Hydrophytia. Among of them, Petrophytia community especial those living in cave is dominated. Then is Waterfall–tufa community. Accordings to the shape,there are four algae communities, Colloid , Crust, Mat and Dusty.The karst algaes living in Waterfall–tufa, limestone and karst river are abundant. There are 409 species karst algaes, occupying 97.15% of the total species. The section character of travertine is not obvious. The erosion micromorphology is mainly bioerosional hole.The deposition rate is 0.0057g/a indoor. The erosion rate is 0.0203g/a outside door and 0.0153 g/a indoor.Therefore, algae plays an important role on karst formation.
