With the newest progress of optical vector-matrix multiplier (OVMM) being studied, the theories and applications of OVMM were analyzed, and some constructive attitudes were put forward. It's significative for the research on optical computing , optical connecting and other optical research aftertime. Meanwhile it offered lots of theories for this field.A 4×4 optical vector-matrix multiplier was setup for demonstrating with LEDs, photosensitive pipes, cylinder lens, sphere lens and other optical elements. Its performances and technical parameters were analyzed, and improved measure was put forward, and the theory of optical vector-matrix multiplication and the feasibility of its manufacture were validated.On the base of the success of optical vector-matrix multiplier, we did some researches on optical matrix-matrix multiplier, and a simple optical matrix-matrix multiplier was built, and the theory of optical matrix-matrix multiplier by the analysis of its theory and performance were validated.The coding of the mathematics to the optical was applied, negative binary code fitting to optical matrix multiplication was proposed and experiment has been done for validating its principle. A new optical matrix multiplier scheme with negative binary encoding by using phase conjugated of photorefractive crystal was proposed. Its optical principle has been introduced and capability has been analyzed. The research proved that it useful to the researching of optical computing.
