Charge transfer collision rate for multicharged ions with atoms and molecules atrelative energies ranging from near thermal to keV are currently of increasing interestdue to the importance of such collisions to the energy-efficient operation of potentialfusion plasma as well as for UV laser applications and certain astrophysical processes.Ar is the third in the content of the earth's atmosphere, accounts for the atmosphericvolume 0.934%. Ar and it's multicharged ions was widely used in diluteastrophysical, Spatial physics and man-made plasmas, the transition line intensityratios can be used as diagnostics for electron densities ne and temperatures Te. Byusing the particular selective trap and mass spectrum detection technology, we haveaccomplished the charge transfer rate coefficients measurement of N2++N2, Fe3++N2, Ti4++Ar, N2, Co3++Ar,N2, Sc3++H2,N2, andsoon. We carried out thecharge transfer rate coefficient measurement of Ar2+and neutral atom Ar on the basisof these experiments. We created and confined N2+ions in the Paul ion trap by electrons impact onbackground gas to scale our mass spectrum system. After that, high pure(99.99%) Arwas filled into our trap and Ar2+was produced and conf'med with an average energyabout 3.19eV. The charge transfer rate coefficient of collisions of Ar2+with Ar wasmeasured to be 5.84(0.677)×10-10 cm3·s-1and the zero-argon-pressure ion decay ratewas 0.46 s-1. The result was compared with the previous experiment results ofdifferent apparatus and the theoretical Langevin rate coefficients, and provided theuseful experimental references for further measurement on lifetime of metastablelevel of multicharged ions.
