The Elaphe dione was captured in Lanzhou city of Gansu Province as a study object and animal was fed at laboratory . The different periods of late embryo development were observed from morphologic view. Succinic acid dehydrogenase(SDH) and lactic acid dehydrogenase (LDH) activity of the skeletal muscle cell at different development periods were determined under the different temperature by colorimetry method. The SDH, LDH and adenosine triphosphatase(ATPase) activity, and lactic acid(LD) content of different tissue cells of adult snake were tested by colorimetry method. The relationship between adult snake's metabolic rate and temperature was studied under experimental condition. The animal was put in a closed - circuitous respirometer in different temperature for the test of metabolic rate. The changes of ultrastructure of skeletal musclar cell under different temperature were observed using the electron microscope as well. The results were showed as following:(1) Morphology of embryo or new bora animal in the twelfth term, the fourteenth term, the sixteenth term and the birth term periods of late embryo development were showed different charecteristics. The pregnancy snake and hatched eggs for experiment lived under the situation at the temperature of 20℃-25℃and humidity of 50%-60%.(2) The SDH activity of skeletal musclar cell of the different embryo development terms rised with raising temperature under the experiment temperature of 10℃, 15℃, 20℃and 25℃, but the SDH activity fell with the raising of the temperature under 30℃and 35℃. The LDH activity of the different embryo development terms rised with raising of temperature under the experiment temperature between 10℃-35℃.(3) SDH and LDH activity at adult snake showed similar situation as developed animal. The SDH activity rised at highest at 25℃, but SDH activity fell with raising of temperature between 30℃and 35℃. The LDH activity rised with raising of temper- ature under the experimental temperature of 10℃-35℃. The LD content of the skeletal muscular, liver and kidney cells were increased with raising of temperature between 10℃-35℃.(4) The metabolic rate of the snake was 1.824, 2.777, 3.288, 4.86, 8.198, 15.035and 16.632mLO2/g·h under the experimental temperature of 5℃, 10℃, 15℃, 20℃, 25℃, 30℃and 35℃respectively.(5) The highest activity temperature of the Na+ K+-ATPase and Ca++- ATPase activity of the skeletal muscular, heart muscular and brain tissue cells were all 28℃compared the experimental temperature of 5℃, 10℃, 15℃, 20℃, 25℃, 28℃, 30℃and 35℃.(6) After forbidden food for ten days, the animal was exposed at quiet environment in 5℃(±1℃) ,22℃(±1℃) and 30℃(±1℃) for 48 hours, and then they were killed and the skeletal muscle was quickly removed for ultrastructure observation. The result showed that there were a lot of cumulative mitochondria and a little fat-drop in skeletal muscular cell in the exposed animal at 5℃. And there were much fat-drop, cumulative glycogen and expanded sarcoplasmic reticulum within the cell of the animal exposed at 30℃...
