The exponentially increasing amount of biological data and the advancement of information technology pose new challenges for bioinformatics in the post genome era. The main task of bioinformatics is to utilize and analyze the biological data to understand the biological meaning of genome.In order to promote the development of genome research, the Gene Regulation Information Integrated database system (GRI) has been established by our research group, which will associate gene regulation information with gene expression data. Although lots of gene regulation information has been integrated into the system, there is no gene expression data in GRI. The main aim of this paper is to accomplish design of gene expression database and to integrate gene expression data into GRI.We have analyzed the international famous gene expression database, such as GEO, ArryExpress, etc. The design of gene expression database and automatic update function of gene regulation information had been accomplished. Moreover, the visualization and complex query of gene expression data have also been completed. The system provides friendly and convenient interface for user and the user can utilize the system to carry out some further research.The data of GRI is consisted of gene regulation information and gene expression data. All of the data in GRI has multiple and organic relationship and it is important to get the relative information of gene when querying. We have also implemented the associated query function based on gene expression data. Visualization function can provide users an intuitionistic impression of gene expression under different conditions. Furthermore, the gene regulation information and gene expression data can be downloaded and performed some further analysis by researchers.In a word, GRI is an integrated database system of gene regulation information and gene expression data. It provides a new way to analyze the function of genome.
