The response of water resources to climatic change has attracted wide attention in situation of global shortage of water resources. Though a lot of researches in water resources evaluation and planning have been donein Shule river basin, the response to climatic change is still a blank space. This paper makes a systematic study on the law of climatic change and itsinfluence on the water resources in Shule river basin in recent 25 years so that people can understand the response mechanism of the river basin to global change. The paper also has significance in water resources utilization and sustainable development of the river basin. The paper analyses temporal and spatial variation of temperature and precipitation systematically in Shule river basin since 1980 and it shows that the average temporal change trend rate in Shule river basin is obviously higher than that in other part of the country. The air temperature has increased obviously in recent 25 years and the trend rate is 0.54 ℃/10a. The validity of precipitation changes obviously and the amount of precipitation follows a slight declining trend in Shule river basin in recent 25 years , as the trend rate is -0. 2mm. Obviously, the temperature and precipitation is seasonal, that is to say, the temperature increases in all seasons while precipitation is obviously scarce in summer, a little decreases in spring and increases in autumn and winter. Altogether, the total quantity of surface water is stable and a little increasing in Shule river basin owing to increase of mountain snow melting water when the air temperature rising, the precipitation decreasing and evaporation increasing. The vegetation has effective response to climate and water resources under existing conditions, generally speaking, vegetation cover decreases as a whole especially in sparsely populated area in middle and lower reaches and northwesten of the river basin where desertification is...
