The emergence of modern industry is the symbol of beginning of urbanization. Enterprises and people and transportation demand have being rushed into cities areas, so the dimensions of cities-ground enlarged quickly and the physiognomy and elements in cities transformed nearly root and branch. The change of heat-cycle and thermodynamic has being begetted a phenomenon investigated widely - "Urban Heat Island"(UHI). Lately, many experts around the world study the mechanism of UHI and its evolvement disciplinarian on different scales and many significant productions and conclusions had being getted.Atmosphere data analysis technique and digital simulation are diffusely used in UHI studies. But their shortcomings are visible. The RS technology gives people a more good chance: RS data guarantee the synchronization of large area surveying and RS technology can be easily used together with GIS; the other advantage is the cheaper cost. Wherefore interrelated experts fall back on RS.Main cities of Chongqing municipality directly under the Central Government is the research object of this thesis. On the basis of digital image fusion theory and land temperature retrieve based on Landsat satellite TM/ETM+ data etc ,this article processes 6 scenes of TM/ETM+ satellite data(1988/6/4, 1988/9/15, 1993/5/24, 2000/7/31, 2001/5/22 and 2004/7/25) and analyses the feature and evolved rule of UHI of Chongqing host cities and the effect of multi-reasons on UHI of Chongqing. The main research content included: the preprocessing method of RS data, the mono-window arithmetic based on single channel heat-infrared data and the confirmation of its arguments, the effect to intensity-temperature of equivalent wavelength replaced by central wavelength and the ascertainment of equivalent wavelength, the theory of processing of thermal infrared RS data's spatial resolution, the feature of UHI of Chongqing host cities and the measures that can be used to stop or stave off the more worsening of Chongqing UHI.From the studies we can get without accident that there is notable UHI in Chongqing main cities and the area is extending with the municipal exploitation. And the other that excessive exploitation/use of urban land will deteriorate the heat circumstance of Chongqing host cities. This result has a good model function for other UHI studies and city-plan.
