With the development of the information technology, Geographical Information System (GIS) had been applied in a broader area. At the beginning stage of GIS development in China, Prof. Deren Li (1991) pointed that the following problems must be solved: how to build quality model of GIS, which index is used to measure accurate and inaccurate data, quantitative data and qualitative data in GIS. GIS data uncertainty and GIS data quality control technology becomes research hotspots.At present, GIS data quality control mainly adopts artificial method to carry out the examinations and mistakes revision. With large numbers of data springing up, quality inspectors need tools to test data quality swiftly and effectively. But existing data quality test software have some weakness such as strongly being dependent on GIS platform, being more special and only useful for the result data examinations, therefore, the automatic examination and evaluation software specifically for GIS data quality control is necessary to carry out quality test, make real time modification and result evaluation to meet the demands of data quality.So, the automatic examining and appraising software for GIS data quality controlling is not only the direction of research in the GIS data quality control, but also the content of this article, this paper has four parts, Part I analyses the problem of data quality control, present research on quality control, error-source and description frame; Part II investigates the algorithms of data processing and examination based on spatial entity, topology, location and attributes; Part III expatiates the technology for GIS data quality control using the software "Processing and Examining software V1.0 for the GIS data" which is developed by the author. According to the examples of data processing and quality control in the GIS of real estate. The last part introduces the practice of data processing and quality control. The research has significance for carrying out GIS data quality control more effectively and establishing the high-quality geographical information database.
