Haematococcus pluvialis belongs to Chlorophyta, Chlorophyceae, Volvocales, Haematococceae, Haematococcus. The green alga are thought to be the best biological resource of astaxanthin for the high quality and high accumulation, reaching 1~3μg·mg-1. In this study, the green alga Haematococcus pluvials were respectively and simultaneously exposed to active oxygen reagents(MB, H2O2 solution, and mixed solution of H2O2 and Fe2+) to study the physiological variety and characteristic of astaxanthin accumulation by determining cell density, chlorophyll-a content, biomass and the astaxanthin content. The results were showed that: (1) Astaxanthin accumulation was obviously enhanced under the treatment of proper concentration of MB and combination of MB and H2O2, but not H2O2 and reagent of ?OH. (2) Biomass was increased under the treatment of active oxygen reagents, and the increase of biomass was promoted in low concentration in MB, and high concentration of treatment of H2O2 and reagent of ·OH. (3) The livability of cell was restrained under the treatment of active oxygen reagents, and cell density was decreased with the increase of concentration of active oxygen reagents. And the restraining effect was highest under the treatment of reagent of ·OH and lowest under the treatment of MB. But the active oxygen reagents conduced to sustain the high level of content of chlorophyll-a.. (4) Astaxanthin accumulation could be enhanced to promote astaxanthin yield in practical production by method of properly adding active oxygen reagents such as MB and so on.
