Coilia ectenes belongs to Clupeiformes , Engraulidae , Coilia Gray, an important economic anadromous fish, which has large distribution in the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang River or inshore land, a lagre proportion in local total yield. Due to its good taste, Coilia ectenes can was well welcomed all over the world.The problem of idioplasm deteriorate comes from early since 1980s. With decreasing yield year by year, it is necessary to protect idioplasm material, which depends on clear classified knowledge of Coilia ectenes at first. Research works about Coilia fish since 1950s, There are different classification before, which usually based on their morphologic characters. Coilia ectenes and Coilia brachygnathus has been regarded as different species based on their morphologic characters, which is different from the newest way and does not sustained by molecule work. Comparison of biochemical and morphological characters yielded a cladistic systematics diagram of four species of Coilia fish divided were sister groups, of C.nasus and C.brachygnathus, and of C.mystus and C.grayii. Some scholars divided Coilia ectenes into anadromous subspecies and Tai Lake. But some scholars disagreed. Someone combined traditional morphological data and truss data to conduct a stepwise discriminant analysis to study the morphological variations between anadromous subspecies and Tai Lake subspecies, and he considered that the differences between the two populations of Coilia ectenes are still with in the population level, but the subspecies lever. Genetic diversity should be checked to realize the whole level after getting the classified knowledge, using the result estimate the influence from man-made factor and as guidance for resource protection. We will study the relationship among Coilia ectenes, Coilia brachygnathus and Coilia ectenes in Tai Lake, and analysis the Coilia ectenes's genetic structure for its resource protection.According to Cytb sequences, we did molecular research work about Coilia ectenes from Tai Lake, Dongting Lake, Boat Mountain and Feiyun River, discuss their relationship compared with Coilia grayii Richardson and analyse their heredity diversity.
