In Coastal Engineering, numerical simulation has become a widely accepted method in the research of water waves. Pre-processing and post-processing, such as obtaining data, generating terrain, visualization and so on are two important research areas in numerical simulation. In this paper the pre-process and visualization of the numerical simulation of water waves have been studied.Considering the angle and distance of affection to interpolation, the weighted function in the point-by-point interpolation was improved. Boundary between water and land is partitioned, which is well concerned in hydrodynamics. Grid-based digital terrain is produced with getting reference point by submethod, and is visualized.Visualization is an effective method to analyze data. In this paper, the method for drawing grid-based terrain, contour, and velocity field and wave surface are studied. Signifying different elevation with different color of grid nodes, grid picture can express all characteristic of terrain in density grid. When the size of grid is far less than entire terrain, grid picture is an easy and effective method to show terrain. Contour is a common method to observe computational result and terrain. In this paper, two value's contour is used to draw contour. In this study all computation are based on rectangular grid system. In visualization step every rectangular grid is divided into two triangular grids, then the effective drawing method in OpenGL can be applied. In showing flow field, vector picture with arrowhead and shaft denoting director and size show every point velocity. In order to improve velocity of movie, this paper saves data to binary data.Furthermore, face rendering is introduced in this paper. Compared to tecplot, this soft is credible. area and weighted averaging...
